The Furminator has arrived!
I’ve read many positive testimonials/reviews on the Furminator, and decided to try it for myself. It’s rather pricey (~RM120), but if it works as well as its supposed to, then I’d consider it money well spent
I got the small-sized tool (1.75 inch wide de-shedding edge)
Herein lies the secret to its effectiveness
I’ve tried many different types of combs before, but none were effective in removing loose fur. The main problem was that the combs were unable to push through the top coat.. basically, the combs were just running over the top of my rabbits’ fur, and so could not lift the loose fur which were lying beneath the top coat.
For the longest time, I’ve been using my hands to pull out their loose fur. I found this to be the most effective method, especially during a heavy molt.
Well, after trying out the Furminator on the furrybutts, I’m happy to report that it works well! The ‘teeth’ pushes through the top coat with much ease, and lifts out all the loose guard hair beneath.
But my rabbits aren’t molting at the moment.. I can’t wait to see how well the Furminator works during a real molt! I’ll post an update then.
For now, though, I’m quite happy with the Furminator. I don’t think I’ll need to use the hand-method anymore, and hopefully it’ll stop ’snowing’ bunny-fur in this apartment

Hmmm… based on your recommendation, I may have to give that a try on my buns. (And I totally know what you mean by “snowing” bunny fur
)
Great, I hope you like it. Gus and Betsy won’t be impressed, though LOL!
Hey, I need one of those too!!!!
Hey! I wonder if Sammy would tolerate it? I can’t get him to sit still for anything, so I have to manually pluck out any loose fur. Seems to work, though, and he does appreciate it when it’s molting time. But Oh, what a mess!
That sounds like a god send, to bad my bunnies would never let me get near them with one! I usually just use my hands once or twice when they’re really shedding
My bunnies don’t enjoy being combed or having me pull out their loose fur. What I do is, give them their food, and groom them while they’re too busy eating to care
Sounds like a great tool for keeping those snowstorms down!
Try Zoom Groom brushes – work well with my 3 fuzzy buns! One of them even likes being groomed with it! It makes a mat of fur that you can easily remove.
I have the one for cats and it’s perfect!
Thanks, Tania! I’ll keep the Zoom Groom brushes in mind.. never thought to try them out as I didn’t think the soft rubber would be able to push through their top coats. Thanks for the tip!
I love my furminator!!! I have had it for a few months now and I don’t know how I lived without it. I have the medium size, but I actually wish I had gotten the small size (even though I have a couple of biiiiiiiig bunnies!!)
