Hans made it through the surgery and he’s back at home now!
It took about 1.5 hours to remove his incisors and clean out the abscess. Here are the incisors:
Those on top are his upper incisors while the ones below are his lower incisors. The incisors which had their growth obstructed by the crooked incisors next to them are much shorter as the roots have degenerated.
The good news is that Hans’ molars are in good condition. The lump was at the root of his lower incisor. Unfortunately, the abscess has infected a part of Hans’ jaw bone. The vet flushed out as much of the abscess as possible and Hans is on another course of oral Baytril for this entire week. He’ll be going back this Sunday for a follow-up at the vet.
Without his incisors, Hans’ tongue sticks out a little.. I think it looks really cute 😀
Well, that was a quick update to let everyone know that Hans is OK and that we’re so very grateful for the words of encouragement from all of you. It really means a lot to us that so many people out there care for our little bun boy 😀
Hans hasn’t eaten yet, so I’m off now to check up on him. Hope to see some doots soon!
Update: Hans is eating!! I offered him a small pinch of rolled oats at about 5.30 pm and he gobbled them up. Towards the evening, he started munching on pellets. Yay!!
