All went well at the vet. We even met a nice couple there, who are owned by 2 bunnies and a cute little dog (Hi there, J!).
Bailey was still drowsy when he came out from the operating room. I held him for quite some time at the clinic before heading home. He was more awake on the ride home. When we got back, a groggy Bailey insisted on running a few laps around his play pen before settling down to rest:
Bailey started eating again soon after coming home. Then, he busied himself with the seagrass mat.. must’ve been a project he started before we whisked him off to the clinic!
Later on, I caught him all flopped out..
.. and enjoying some quality time with Hans:
I think Bailey’s well on the road to recovery 😀
.. the vet said that the swelling at his jaw bone is gone. But when she applied pressure on the area where the abscess used to be, some pus came out from his incisor cavity. The abscess isn’t completely gone, so Hans is on antibiotics for another 16 days. We’re going back for a check-up 2 weekends from now.
A couple of nights ago, Hans snagged his dew claw on something (I’m not sure what, though). There was a little bit of blood and the claw felt looser than normal after that. The vet said it wasn’t anything to worry about, the dew claw is non-functional anyway.
Towards the evening after the vet visit, Hans began to fuss a lot with the broken dew claw:
It looked like the claw was coming off but I didn’t want to pull it out for fear of hurting him. Hans did the job himself, I found this lying on the ground soon after:
Hans’ paw looks alright, just some tiny specks of dried blood on it. I wonder if the dew claw will grow back? With all those extracted incisors and now a broken nail, Hans would be rich if there was a tooth & nail fairy 😉
